Lee Mi-Sook and Kang Sukwoo open the second spring of their lives.
In Your Radiant Season, a new MBC Friday-Saturday drama scheduled to premiere at 9:50 p.m. on the 20th (planned by Namgung Seongwoo, written by Jo Seonghee, directed by Jeong Sanghee and Kim Youngjae), depicts a man named "Chan" who lives every day like an exciting summer vacation and a woman named "Ran" who has locked herself in winter meeting by fate and awakening frozen time in an unpredictable "radiant" romance.
Lee Mi-Sook plays Kim Nana, a first-generation fashion designer who represents Korea and the head of Nana Atelier. Kang Sukwoo appears as Park Man-jae, a barista who runs the cafe "Shim" in a quiet alley.
Kim Nana has always stood at the center of others as a leader who leads an organization with cold judgment and sharp insight and as a grandmother who has been responsible for three granddaughters. Having lived a more glamorous and intense life than anyone else, she finally looks back on her life in the face of an unexpected change. After retiring, Man-jae, who lives a slow-paced daily life, meets Kim Nana again through regular customer Song Ha-ran (played by Lee Sung-kyoung) and greets another season of life.
The special poster for In Your Radiant Season, released today (the 12th), captures Kim Nana (played by Lee Mi-Sook), who has briefly put down the weight of being a designer, head of an organization and grandmother of three granddaughters, and Park Man-jae (played by Kang Sukwoo), who quietly stands by her side. Facing Man-jae, Nana, who was his first love in childhood, looks at him with a bright, girlish face, and Man-jae silently smooths her scarf and carefully looks after her. Between the two, a deepening excitement seeps into the steady warmth, warming the hearts of viewers.
In particular, the phrase "we were so sparkling and pretty back then" evokes times and memories and past days buried deep in the heart that were not revisited because of living fiercely. The twilight romance that the two people, who meet again at the end of a long life journey, will present is expected to color viewers' hearts with a firmer and deeper aftertaste than the passion of youth.
Jo Seonghee, the writer of In Your Radiant Season, said of Lee Mi-Sook, "She makes me feel like I can see the 'Korea's queen of fashion, Queen Nana' that existed only in my head." She added, "I am amazed by the detail in which she never misses even the smallest fingerprint and always shows it many times over. Thanks to her, I experienced the thrill of feeling emotion and depth sink into my heart with even a short line of dialogue."
Regarding Kang Sukwoo, she said, "I thought of Kang Sukwoo when creating the Park Man-jae character. When I worked on previous projects, I listened to the radio he hosted every day. The comfort I felt then is 그대로 reflected in the current Park Man-jae character. There was no one but Kang Sukwoo who could embody 'Man-jae, the twilight barista who loves music and coffee.' It is an honor to work on this project with the two actors," expressing deep trust.
In this way, Lee Mi-Sook promises a wide emotional spectrum by delicately portraying everything from the charismatic "Queen Nana" to a woman's love. Kang Sukwoo will also complete the character Park Man-jae with his unique embrace and deeply textured acting, adding a weighty resonance throughout the drama.
