Actor Shim Eunkyung returns to Korean drama after six years with Mad Concrete Dreams.
Mad Concrete Dreams, a new weekend drama on cable channel tvN that premieres on March 14 at 9:10 p.m., is a suspense drama about a livelihood building owner drowning in debt who joins a fake kidnapping to protect the family and building more precious than life itself. The series is drawing attention with a star-studded cast including Ha Jung-woo, Lim Soojung, Kim Jun Han, Jung Soojung and Shim Eunkyung.
Shim Eunkyung plays Yona, a mysterious operative at Real Capital. Yona is cold and cruel and avoids forming deep relationships with anyone.
Real Capital, which Yona belongs to, is a corporation pushing forward a redevelopment project in the area where Gi Su-jong (played by Ha Jung-woo) owns a building. Outwardly legitimate, it is an organization that finishes whatever it starts by any means necessary. Yona, who comes to Korea to resolve the redevelopment issue, encounters the unexpected variable Gi Su-jong and threatens him.
In released stills titled "building owner," viewers can see Shim Eunkyung's intense transformation into Yona. Dressed in a black suit, Yona radiates a chilling aura with her trademark expressionless face. Standing in the darkness, Yona evokes an inexplicable eerie feeling. Her icy gaze alone builds tension and raises expectations for Yona's role that will shake up the story.
Interest is focused on Shim Eunkyung's fresh transformation as she returns to Korean drama six years after Money Game on tvN. Shim Eunkyung was the first Korean actor to win the Japan Academy Prize and recently added the Kinema Junpo best actress award, proving her acting on the global stage. Fans are eager to see what impact Shim Eunkyung will leave with the character Yona upon her long-awaited return to Korea.
The production team said, "Shim Eunkyung completed Yona through meticulous character analysis. Please look forward to Shim Eunkyung's performance, which raises the suspense of Mad Concrete Dreams."
Mad Concrete Dreams premieres next month on the 14th at 9:10 p.m.
