'Exclusive World' revealed comedian Kim Su-young's current situation.
On the 12th episode of the SBS entertainment program 'Exclusive World', a day in the life of Kim Su-young, who went from comedian to household goods salesperson, was portrayed.
That day, Kim Su-young recalled his difficult childhood and said, "I couldn't attend hagwon and I couldn't go to college. School days were hard, but I sublimated that into laughter." He went on to confess, "By making others laugh I tried to think, 'I am not pitiful, I am not unhappy.' I laughed more to hide it, and that's why I wanted to become a comedian."
But the turning point in his life was the cancellation of 'Gag Concert.' Kim Su-young said, "When Gag Concert ended, I couldn't believe it. I cried a lot. Many comedians felt the same," adding frankly, "When that workplace disappeared it was very hard. For a while I denied reality."
Afterward he searched for a new job. He tried banana distribution at the recommendation of an acquaintance but suffered failure due to the impact of COVID-19 and other factors. To make up for the debt he had incurred, he chose to sell kitchenware.
He now loads warehouse goods from early morning and travels nationwide to sell them. The episode showed him preparing a special event for sales and doing his best until just before closing. Even amid difficult realities, he endured each day with his characteristic diligence and sense of responsibility.
Although the stage has disappeared, Kim Su-young has started running again for his family and life. He said, "If I get an offer, I want to do comedy again anytime," showing he still hasn't let go of his dream to make people laugh.
