Broadcaster Jang Young-ran revealed she was harassed for nine months by a voice-phishing criminal impersonating an acquaintance.
On the afternoon of the 11th, a video titled "first confession! voice phishing, investment fraud victim Jang Young-ran's tearful confession (damage in the hundreds of millions, celebrity scam)" was posted on the YouTube channel A급 장영란.
Jang Young-ran recalled the harrowing moment when she nearly fell victim to voice phishing in the past. One day she suddenly received a message from someone claiming to be the younger sibling of her former coordinator, who approached her with the outlandish claim that her "boyfriend is a Thai prince."
At first Jang Young-ran congratulated them with a sincere heart, but during the conversation the other person suddenly confessed they had become disabled and began asking for money, saying, "I have to pay something, can't you just give me 1,000,000 won?"
Although she felt suspicious, the person continued the conversation for a full nine months while Jang Young-ran agonized over whether to send money, and the other person even tried to reassure her by sending a photo of their resident registration card. But the twist was revealed with the help of an acquaintance. Jang Young-ran delivered the shocking fact that "an acquaintance searched that ID on Google and it was a dead person," adding, "fortunately I did not send money."
