The producer of "1deungdeul" announced the appearances of singers Heo Gak, Lee Yeji, and Park Changgeun.
MBC held a press conference for the new entertainment program "1deungdeul" on the morning of the 11th at Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul. MC Rhee Minjung and Boom attended the event and, under the moderation of announcer Park Soyoung, talked about "1deungdeul" with producers Kim Myeongjin and Chae Hyunseok, who directed the program.
"1deungdeul" is an entertainment program where the final top winners, born after overcoming fierce competition in numerous music auditions throughout history, compete in an audition showdown to determine the number one among the number ones. So what criteria were applied in the casting process?
Producer Kim Myeongjin said, "Casting was not easy. In fact, only one person decided at once. The others deliberated. We met with some, and one person I met seemed anxious. They did not want to go back into that fire. Surprisingly, only one person said, 'This will be fun!' Some were persuaded through their managers, and the casting process usually took about one to two weeks."
He continued, "The casting criteria could only be met by the number one winners. The most important criterion was name recognition. When we gathered people, if there were only a few familiar faces, viewers might not find it interesting, so we focused on people viewers would likely know. We organized it based on whether the program or the singer was famous."
He said, "We also want to talk about and promote singers, but the first broadcast format is 'appearance.' Please understand that there are parts we cannot fully disclose. This is officially the first episode's format. Perhaps the person you are most curious about is Heo Gak; Heo Gak appears. Lee Yeji appears as well. If Heo Gak is first generation, Lee Yeji might be of the more recent generation. Also appearing is Park Changgeun, whom MBC is not very familiar with. He is a singer aimed at middle-aged and older audiences and was entertaining. The rest are all famous people."
First broadcast on the 15th at 8:50 p.m.
