Lim Soojung returns to the living room screen after five years with Mad Concrete Dreams.
The new tvN Saturday-Sunday drama Mad Concrete Dreams, which premieres on Mar. 14, (written by Oh Han-gi / directed by Im Pil-seong / planned by Studio Dragon / produced by Mindmark, Studio329 / hereafter "building owner") depicts the suspense that unfolds when a livelihood-struggling building owner, to protect the family and the building more precious than life, joins a fake kidnapping.
Lim Soojung plays Kim Sean, the wife of Ki Su-jong (played by Ha Jung-woo), a strong and decisive woman. Kim Sean is a "steel mom," the most realistic person with a keen sense who does not lose her composure even in moments of crisis. She quit being a nurse to educate her hearing-impaired daughter Dara, and now lives aiming for Dara's study abroad.
However, when her husband Ki Su-jong bought the building with "yeongkkeul" (borrowing to the hilt), a shadow is cast over the future Kim Sean envisioned for her family. Suspicion grows over her husband's strange behavior as if hiding something about the building, and Kim Sean begins to move for her daughter and family. In the process, Kim Sean injects tense suspense into the drama with resourcefulness and choices that exceed Ki Su-jong's expectations.
The released first still of Lim Soojung as the "building owner" captures Kim Sean smiling happily in everyday life with her family. But as her expression gradually changes to one whose inner thoughts are hard to read, it foreshadows conflict and raises curiosity about what impact her resolve and actions will bring.
Attention is also focused on Lim Soojung's new transformation as she returns to the living room screen five years after Melancholia. Lim Soojung's acting depth, built across genres including romance, thriller, fantasy, human and office pieces, is expected to expand once again through "building owner." Amid a series of incidents and accidents in the drama, she will create a real-life married couple chemistry with Ha Jung-woo and, with performances that lead the story in unpredictable directions, anticipation is growing for Lim Soojung's role.
The production team said, "Kim Sean is a character who becomes bolder in moments of crisis, bringing unexpected turns to the plot. You will be able to see a new side of Lim Soojung," and asked for anticipation.
Meanwhile, Mad Concrete Dreams premieres on Saturday, Mar. 14 at 9:10 p.m.
