Trot powerhouse Total Set's Lee Su-yeon showcased overwhelming skill on 'King of Singers 3'.
Lee Su-yeon continued the competition with the third preliminary round, second-round matchup called the fate war on the Oct. 10 broadcast of MBN's 'King of Singers 3'. In last week's 1:1 single-song first-round match she achieved a landslide victory over Bin Ye-seo and rose to fourth in the interim rankings; riding that momentum, Lee Su-yeon selected Jeong Dong-won's "Monologue" and promised another legendary performance.
Before going on stage, Lee Su-yeon said, "I'm currently in the top ranks, but because I think rankings can be overturned at any time in the second round, I vowed to hold my position no matter what," and she approached the stage with grim determination, completely overwhelming the stage with song interpretation and heartrending emotion far beyond what her age of 11 would suggest.
On Lee Su-yeon's performance, Jeon Yoo-jin said, "Lee Su-yeon isn't just good for an 11-year-old; she's a singer who simply sings well. She has an emotional nuance more delicate than adults and a perfect narrative arc," acknowledging her skill. The original artist Yoon Myung-sun said, "It was already perfect from the first phrase. I usually don't work with minors, but I definitely want to collaborate with Lee Su-yeon," making an unusual love call.
Lee Su-yeon earned the ticket to the semifinals in third place after receiving balanced support from the celebrity judging panel and the audience judging panel. Having proven her star quality with overwhelming stages each round, expectations are rising for the performances Lee Su-yeon will show in the future.<
