Entertainers' home shopping appearance fees are once again drawing attention. The remark "15 million won for 60 minutes" has been reexamined and highlighted as a "stage that makes you say 'wow'" while another reality was revealed when a comedian's confession of "200,000 won" was reported.
On the 10th, the YouTube channel "HotIssueJi" featured comedian Kim Hyun-gi, who appeared and candidly revealed his home shopping income.
He said, "A show host, last week I did one that paid 200,000 won. It's about 200,000–250,000 won each time. If you meet a good vendor, you can get up to 400,000 won."
Recently online, broadcaster Ahn Sun-young's past remark that "for a 60-minute live home shopping segment, about 15 million won" has spread, putting entertainers' home shopping prices back in the spotlight. Ahn Sun-young explained that the amount was "the result of 20 years of broadcasting experience."
In addition, it was reported that recently broadcaster Mija and her mother achieved "legendary sales" on different channels. On CJ OnStyle, Mija quickly sold through the prepared stock during her appearance and set a single-day sales record, and her mother reportedly achieved results exceeding 200% of the target on another channel, attracting attention.
It is the same "home shopping stage," but appearance fees vary widely. While billion-won sales and high appearance fees attract attention, the reality that some entertainers are working for fees in the tens of thousands of won has also emerged.
Public reaction is mixed. While some say "ultimately it's a difference in experience and brand value," many respond that "there is a large wealth gap even in entertainers' home shopping." Especially amid recent perceptions of the economy, there are continued criticisms that "there is a disconnect from reality."
Home shopping has now established itself as another "star stage" beyond a simple sales channel. However, the fact that on that stage someone receives billion-won appearance fees while someone else receives tens of thousands of won highlights the other side of the entertainers' home shopping world once again.<
