Broadcaster Jang Young-ran even confessed to a chilling attempted voice phishing incident.
On the afternoon of the 11th, a video titled "First confession! Voice phishing, Jang Young-ran's tearful confession after investment fraud (hundreds of millions in damage, celebrity scam)" was posted on the YouTube channel "A-grade Jang Young-ran."
Jang Young-ran recounted a harrowing incident in which she nearly fell victim to voice phishing. One day she was suddenly contacted by someone claiming to be the younger sibling of a former coordinator, and said that her "boyfriend is a Thai prince," approaching her.
Jang Young-ran congratulated her, saying it was wonderful, but during the conversation the other party suddenly confessed to having become disabled and began demanding money, saying "I need to pay something, can't you just give me 1 million won?"
Although suspicious, Jang Young-ran spent as long as nine months continuing the conversation, debating whether to send money. The other party showed meticulousness by even taking and sending a photo of their resident registration card to gain trust.
But there was a twist. In conclusion, an acquaintance searched that "ID card on Google and it turned out to be a deceased person." After encountering the chilling truth, Jang Young-ran said, "Fortunately I did not send money," and breathed a sigh of relief.
