Movie critic Lee Dong-jin appears on MBC 'Radio Star' and opens up about everything from his signature one-line reviews to a life of collecting and his long-standing eloquence since childhood. Contrary to his calm image, Lee Dong-jin's relentless talk fills the studio with laughter.
The episode airing on the 11th, 'Radio Star' (planned by Chey Yoon-chung / directed by Yun Hye-jin, Hwang Yun-sang, Byun Da-hee) is presented as a 'Too Much TALK GPT' special featuring Lee Dong-jin, Ahn Hyun-mo, Orbit, and Nucksal.
Lee Dong-jin takes an impromptu test over his trademark 'one-line review.' Lee Dong-jin, who for decades has left ratings and 'one-line reviews' for thousands of films, agrees to take a test suggested by the MCs to guess the 'one-line reviews' he left. Surprisingly, he says "I remember almost all of them" and accepts the challenge, raising expectations, while showing deeper thought as the difficulty increases and causing everyone to burst into laughter.
Lee Dong-jin mentions his ties with Ahn Hyun-mo and Orbit and brings up the program the three are hosting together. He explains that because they each curate films and content, when the three gather they cannot stop talking, and the MCs watching add to the laughter by calling them a "too much talker combination."
Lee Dong-jin's "eloquent" side is also evident in childhood episodes. He confesses, drawing laughter, that as an elementary school student he once, at the request of his homeroom teacher, was given time to tell the story of a book he had read in front of his classmates and acted as a human audiobook ahead of his time.
His collector's zeal is also on display. Lee Dong-jin talks about his beloved collectibles. Introducing a studio filled with books, records, DVDs and various collectibles, he shares the behind-the-scenes story that when he moved to the second branch of 'Paiakia' he had so much stuff that the moving company could not handle it, so with the help of family and acquaintances he did a self-move, adding to the laughter.
Also included is the story of the handmade tteokbokki Lee Dong-jin makes himself at his studio. Ahn Hyun-mo's high praise and the MCs' reactions heat up the atmosphere, and Lee Dong-jin says he hopes someday to open his studio like a small "personal museum," raising expectations.
Broadcast at 10:30 p.m. on the 11th.
