It has already been 19 years since the late Jeong Da-bin passed away.
The late Jeong Da-bin was found dead on Feb. 10, 2007, at her boyfriend's home in Samseong-dong, Gangnam District, Seoul. She was 27.
The police said that no suicide note was found, but because there were no signs of drug use or homicide, they concluded she ended her own life. According to the police, her boyfriend said, "I brought a very drunk Jeong Da-bin home, and when I checked on her she was dead."
The police and the National Forensic Service determined it was a suicide, but the family and the agency said that because the late Jeong Da-bin was known for her bright personality and had no reason to take her own life recently, they could not accept the situation easily. To this day, the reason for Jeong Da-bin's suicide has not been revealed.
Jeong Da-bin debuted in 2000 in the SBS sitcom 'Don.com'. She then rose to stardom by appearing in the sitcom 'Nonstop 3', and in 2003 she showed off her charming cuteness while acting opposite Kim Rae Won in 'The Rooftop Cat'. Thanks to her lovely looks and fresh acting, she was praised as "the second Choi Jin-sil" and was expected to be a "rom-com queen."
After SBS's 'The Summer Typhoon' in 2005 her activities slowed, and because she suddenly died in 2007, the shock to fans and the public was even greater. Moreover, because she was an actress who could handle both comedy and melodrama, longing for the late actress continues even 19 years later.
Colleagues who acted alongside her also expressed their longing. On MBC's 'Youth Documentary Again, Twenty', which aired in 2018, Zo In-sung said, "My heart hurt so much that it was hard to go to the funeral home. I wondered if I even had the right to go. I didn't know at all. But on the way I thought I should at least pay my respects, so I went," and Jung Tae Woo said, "Everyone must have felt it was impossible," revealing his feelings at the time.
Meanwhile, the late Jeong Da-bin's mother is said to have held a soul wedding in 2011, four years after her death, to console her daughter's spirit who died at a young age. According to a variety show, the person who held the soul wedding with the late Jeong Da-bin was five years older and had studied business administration at a graduate school in Daegu. He is reported to have died in 2002 of a sudden heart problem of unknown cause.<
