'Cooking lunatic' chef Yun Nam-no confessed to having Gangnam allergy.
The episode of MBC's Save Me! Homes (hereafter "Homes") airing on the 12th continues from the broadcast on the 5th and heads out to the restaurants and homes of the chefs who appeared on the Netflix variety show Culinary Class Wars 2.
On the day's broadcast, "cooking lunatic" chef Yun Nam-no from Culinary Class Wars 1 and "queen of Chinese cuisine" chef Park Eun-young join entertainment industry tastemaker Kim Sook to personally explore the so-called "Culinary Class Wars district," where Culinary Class Wars chefs' restaurants are concentrated. The three are expected to visit the Gangnam commercial area, a "restaurant battleground" lined with Michelin-starred restaurants, following last week's visit to the Yongsan commercial district.
As they first entered Gangnam-daero, chef Yun Nam-no said, "I worked there for a long time, but it doesn't suit me," confessing what is known as "Gangnam allergy," which surprised everyone. In fact, Gangnam is such a popular commercial district that it has the largest concentration of Culinary Class Wars chefs' restaurants. But he said it is fiercely competitive, sharing the chefs' difficulties with their business districts and drawing sympathy, sources say.
Among them, the three head to the restaurant of Tamir Lee, the longtime fixture of Cheongdam-dong "French Papa," who has kept the same spot in Gangnam for a full 17 years. The interior, unchanged from 17 years ago and bearing the touch of his wife with a classic feel, is revealed to admiration. He said that after appearing on Culinary Class Wars 2 he has been fully booked, attracting attention. In particular, Jang Dong-min, who said in the previous broadcast that he most wanted to visit French Papa's restaurant, caused a stir in the Nohae studio by saying, "If all the reservations are full, we can't go? How are we supposed to eat!"
Next, French Papa reveals the behind-the-scenes story of how he used to ride a bicycle 17 years ago while looking for a restaurant, piquing curiosity. In addition, the ultimate in efficiency in the kitchen and jaw-dropping cooking tools are revealed, drawing attention. Seeing the kitchen, Yun Nam-no expressed astonishment at the efficient layout; French Papa said he designed the kitchen with the focus on minimizing how much one has to walk, and that the blueprints alone took a month, drawing admiration.
