Q. How do you feel about releasing Molly Yam and DIMO REX's first project EP DIMOLLY with the start of the first half of 2026?
[Molly Yam] I'm so excited to be working together this time. I hope listeners can feel the energy between the two of us.
[DIMO REX] I only have pleasant memories from working, so I'm really excited. It's a combination nobody really expected, so I'm very curious about the public's reaction.
Q. Was there any reason that led from the two artists' first meeting to musical collaboration?
[Molly Yam] Instagram creator Ryu Jeong-ran connected the two of us. When I first heard DIMO REX's music, I loved it and wanted to collaborate, and Yedam felt the same way, so we started working together.
[DIMO REX] At first I received a featuring offer. After trying to match our styles, I was convinced we could create a lot of synergy, and thanks to that the album production proceeded smoothly.
Q. Molly Yam has recently drawn attention in the short-form scene after accumulating 100 million views on TikTok. She became a hot topic with her signature black lipstick and the "Dubai jjondeuk cookie challenge"; were you expecting this kind of reaction?
[Molly Yam] I never expected it. Actually, I don't like Dubai jjondeuk cookie, but I'm so grateful that people associate it with me and enjoy it.
Q. The duo's first project EP spans genres from alternative R&B to rage and emo hip-hop. What is the core message or planning intent that runs through the whole record?
[Molly Yam] Because I believe only music can heal people, I want to convey the message 'love yourself.'
[DIMO REX] I wanted to offer warm comfort to listeners. The sound itself can be destructive and have a melancholic side, but I expect the auditory pleasure felt through our connected performances.
Q. What kind of song is the title track "You will drive me crazy," and what did you pay the most attention to while collaborating?
[Molly Yam] There's a lyric that goes, 'The clock moves but my heart doesn't waver.' I paid the most attention to a melody that touches emotions so I could love even my weakest parts.
[DIMO REX] It sounds like a love song, but it's actually a song about a confused inner self. Since Molly Yam hyung had worked on the song first, I thought a lot about how I could harmonize in the empty spaces and provide another kind of auditory pleasure.
Q. The included track "It will be okay" is a high-tension rockstar rage genre. It captures the mood of freely racing through the night; in what situations do you hope fans listen to this song?
I hope people listen to it on their way back after doing something. It would be good to hear when you need comfort or when your heart feels empty. I hope people can feel that today wasn't wasted.
Q. The third track "The reason I love becomes love" was introduced as "imperfect emo hip-hop." Did you gain inspiration from any special experiences during the work process?
It's a song that melts into it the empty thoughts and depressive feelings I listen to when I'm alone. When you break up with someone you truly loved, love eventually becomes hate, doesn't it? I felt it was similar to us blaming God while living in the world that person created.
Q. The final song "So tonight" declares a "DIMOLLY-style high-end flex." If there are ambitions you want to declare to the music scene through this song, what are they?
[Molly Yam] "We love music so much that we can't help but pour it out!"
[DIMO REX] The two players continuously show solid, chewy vocals, and we packed each person's individuality and the synergy as one team. Just enjoy it!
Q. You hinted at a visually shocking attempt through the title track music video. Are there any memorable episodes from the shoot or particular aspects viewers should focus on?
Because the content is provocative, special makeup was used. The fake blood for filming was made from corn syrup and red dye, so it was very sticky and hard to open my eyes when it touched my face. If you see provocative elements as a single cinematic device, you may feel a solid storyline.
Q. Starting with this first project, what kind of artist do you want to be remembered as by the public this year?
[Molly Yam] It's selfish, but I want everyone to love me unconditionally. I want to be a happy artist.
[DIMO REX] I want to broaden my musical spectrum and be remembered as a friend-like artist who can offer not only exciting music but also warm comfort.
