Musical actress and singer Ok Joo Hyun shared her thoughts after finishing the musical "Red Book" amid casting monopolization controversy.
Ok Joo Hyun on the 9th said, "It was very, very precious. Thank you for letting me live in the best time, everyone.. and for the letters you sent that made me cry after the final curtain" to express her gratitude.
She continued, "Red Book until the end embraced me tightly with Red Book-like hearts and Red Book-like expressions like the people of the Red Book world.. as always. Thank you so much for everything" as she repeatedly expressed her gratitude.
Earlier, Ok Joo Hyun was embroiled in a casting favoritism controversy. According to the casting lineup released by the musical "Anna Karenina," the title role Anna Karenina was triple-cast with Ok Joo Hyun, Lee Ji Hye, and Kim So Hyang. However, of the total 38 performances, Ok Joo Hyun performed 23 times, Lee Ji Hye 8 times, and Kim So Hyang 7 times, sparking controversy over casting monopolization.
Regarding this, a representative of "Anna Karenina" told OSEN, "We cannot comment because casting and number of performances are the exclusive rights of the production company and the original creators," and said, "There were many variables such as consultations with the licensor, a reduction in the total number of performances, and the actors' schedules, so the schedule was settled with difficulty."
