Movie 'How To Eat Fried Worms,' which starred as a child actor, actor Blake Garrett has died. He was 33.
On the 9th (local time), TMZ reported that Garrett's mother, Carol, said her son died last Sunday. The exact cause of death has not been confirmed, and the body has been autopsied. However, it was reported that the final cause of death will be known only after the coroner's report is released.
Carol said Garrett had been suffering extreme pain from serious health problems in Tulsa, Oklahoma, before his death. He recently sought hospital care for severe pain and was later diagnosed with shingles. Shingles is a condition caused by reactivation of the chickenpox virus and can be accompanied by severe neuralgia.
Carol said the pain was so severe that she feared her son may have tried to calm himself. However, this has not been confirmed, and Garrett was reportedly sober for the past three years.
Born in Austin, Texas, Garrett began acting on stage as a child. He appeared in local productions such as Aladdin and the Magic Lamp and Peanuts: Charlie Brown tribute, and at about age 10 he gained substantial stage experience through the national tour Bunny's Colorful World.
He later became known to the public through the 2006 film How To Eat Fried Worms, and for that work he won the best young ensemble cast award at the 28th Young Artist Awards in 2007. However, he did not continue acting afterward.
Fans continue to mourn Blake Garrett's sudden death, which left memories of a brief but powerful child-actor period.
