Comedian Park Na-rae will undergo a police investigation regarding various allegations that surfaced from conflicts with her former managers.
According to police on the 10th, Park Na-rae is scheduled to appear at Seoul Gangnam Police Station on the 12th at 2:30 p.m. as a suspect and will be questioned. This is the first suspect interview since she was accused by her former managers.
Earlier, Park Na-rae was accused by two former managers of workplace harassment, proxy prescriptions, unpaid event fees and so-called "power abuse". The former managers filed a complaint against Park Na-rae last Dec. on charges including defamation and violation of the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, and also filed for a provisional seizure of real estate worth about 100 million won.
In response, Park Na-rae's side denied the allegations in full and countersued the former managers on charges of blackmail and embezzlement in the course of business. The police have completed interviews with complainants on both sides and a full suspect interview of Park Na-rae is set to proceed.
The investigation is also looking into allegations of illegal medical practices related to a person known as the so-called "injection aunt." Park Na-rae has been accused of receiving illegal medical procedures from a person without a medical license, and she has explained that she believed the person was a doctor.
The person referred to as A also revealed that they recently underwent about nine hours of police questioning and said, "I denied the parts that are not true." However, the post was later deleted. The police have imposed an exit ban on A and are carrying out searches and seizures as they verify the facts related to the allegations.
Meanwhile, after the controversy, Park Na-rae has stepped down from programs she was appearing on, including MBC's I Live Alone and tvN's Amazing Saturday, and has suspended activities. However, she is expected to appear in the pre-produced Disney Plus variety show "Unmyeongjeonjaeng 49."
With both sides having filed countersuits and a full investigation underway, attention is focused on the results of the upcoming police investigation.<
