Fencing national team veteran Nam Hyun-hee spoke out about the breakdown of her previous marriage.
On the 9th, Nam Hyun-hee posted on her personal SNS, "I divorced because of a homewrecker," along with text and photos.
The released photo shows a captured KakaoTalk message exchanged on Aug. 30, 2021. The message included "I'm home. You must be sleeping. Good night" along with a kissing-lips emoji, and when the conversation partner asked, "Are you on your way?" the reply read, "I'm here. Thanks for your hard work today too." The partner then replied, "Okay, you too. Hang in there."
The identity of the person who exchanged the messages has not been revealed. However, Nam Hyun-hee said, "People are insulting me, saying I divorced because of that," and appealed, "I'm so wronged. I will disclose all the materials and reveal the truth. I have nothing left to lose."
Previously, Nam Hyun-hee had one daughter with her ex-husband, with whom she had a marital breakup in 2023.
Later that year in October, Nam Hyun-hee announced her marriage to Jeon Cheong-jo, who she claimed was the son of a wealthy family, accusing him of lying about his family background and financial status; when these facts became known the engagement was called off. Jeon Cheong-jo was later arrested on fraud charges, tried and sentenced to 13 years in prison.
Additionally, fraud charges and a lawsuit seeking damages were filed against Nam Hyun-hee, but she was ultimately cleared as it was recognized that she had been deceived. In the damages lawsuit she was proven to be a victim and was exonerated of the allegations.
