Singer Bae Ki-sung and his wife candidly revealed why they started considering having a second child nine years into their marriage.
On the 9th broadcast of "Chosun's lovebird," the couple Bae Ki-sung and Lee Eun-mee appeared.
Bae Ki-sung recalled the early days of marriage, saying, "Before marriage, I absolutely thought we would have children first." But after getting married his thinking changed.
He said, "We loved traveling and living together so much. I thought living without children wouldn't be so bad," adding, "I married late and looked into in vitro fertilization, but seeing my wife struggling, I didn't pressure her anymore."
The wife also expressed complicated feelings. She said, "I'm the type who thinks 'you can get through it with sheer willpower.' It's because I think it's something you do for the family," then her eyes welled up. She confessed with tears, "I hope my older brother lives longer than me. I don't think I could live without my husband, and I'm scared that if we have a child, it will just be me and the child left." It was sincere tears at the very thought of possibly losing her husband.
But Bae Ki-sung's feelings were different. He said, "My wife is 12 years younger than me," and worried, "If I die first, my wife will be lonely on her own. She doesn't have many relatives."
Although for different reasons, their concern about a second child started from the same place. The two once again found themselves facing a life choice within thoughts of each other.
