Mixed-gender hip-hop group SIKKOO demonstrated a wide musical spectrum with their second EP "home."
SIKKOO (YOSI·200·Koo Min-jae) released their second EP "home (홈)" on various online music sites on the 6th and released the music video for one of the double title tracks, "nosho (노쇼)." On the 7th they held a successful "home" release party at Lovelovelove in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, marking a successful comeback about 10 months after their last release.
"home" is an album that presents SIKKOO's candid memoirs under the theme "Good Bad Trip (굿 배드 트립)." SIKKOO says the trials and setbacks they experienced while making music sometimes felt like a bad trip, but in the end they were a good trip that helped them grow. The album expands their musical spectrum across seven tracks by blending hip-hop with R&B, hyper, Bailey funk, dance and other genres.
The first title track, "nosho," is a trap song highlighted by a melodic synth bass, delivering SIKKOO's youthful energy through addictive singing and rapping and lyrics that convey a sense of accomplishment. The other title track, "Jigilrom (kinda Guilty)," is a song that pays homage to Dynamic Duo's "Jukil Nom (Guilty)" and evokes nostalgia for the 2000s.
Other tracks include "bad trip," which showcases leader Koo Min-jae's unrestrained vibe and sincere charm; "demons," featuring 200 (EBACK, Ibaek)'s dreamy tone and philosophy about the world; "AI LOVE," in which YOSI's witty lyrics and singing unfold as easy listening; "BAPPY," which combines bright guitar riffs with Bailey-funk-style beats; and the album's title track "home," a duet by 200 and YOSI that demonstrates their synergy, allowing listeners to confirm SIKKOO's upgraded musical style through a variety of colored tracks.
At the release party, new songs from the EP were performed for the first time. SIKKOO drew enthusiastic responses from the audience with solid live performances and charming chemistry. The members moved between group, solo and duet stages, conveying a clear team color and each member's individuality at the same time.
Meanwhile, SIKKOO is a rising mixed-gender group that announced its entry into the hip-hop scene by releasing the special album "HAN : Cooked (한 : 쿡)" in 2024. They drew attention with the video for "TEAM TOMODACHI (KR Remix) (팀 도모다치 (코리안 리믹스))," which surpassed 14 million views on YouTube, and last April they were the first act in AOMG 2.0's rebranding project to release the EP "Gan (間)." As a "multiplayer artist" that plans and presents content directly, they are active across genres based on hip-hop.
