Actor Jung Yu-jin, who has proven intellectual charisma, takes on another acting transformation with "Humint."
The film "Humint" is a story about people with different purposes clashing in Vladivostok, where secrets and truth are both submerged in a cold sea of ice. It is director Ryu Seung-wan's next work following "Berlin" and "Mogadishu" and previously drew major attention with a star-studded lineup including Zo In-sung, Park Jeongmin, Park Hae-jun and Shin Sae-kyeong. In it, Jung Yu-jin appears as Deputy Manager Im, a National Intelligence Service (NIS) agent and junior to Director Jo (played by Zo In-sung), further enhancing the film's immersion.
So far, Jung Yu-jin has taken on "capable" characters and built a unique niche. Starting with Kang Se-young, a realistic office worker with exceptional drive in the drama Something in the Rain, she cemented an intellectual image by playing Kang Hee-su, a confident and frank company CEO in Thirty But Seventeen.
She then established herself as a reliable actress through roles such as the promising editor Song Hae-rin in Romance Is a Bonus Book and Hama-ri, captain of the metropolitan investigation unit, in Catch the Ghost. In particular, in Remarriage & Desires she perfectly embodied Jin Yoo-hee, an elite lawyer who spares no means or methods, proving a deeper acting spectrum.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Manager Im that Jung Yu-jin plays in "Humint" is a character that represents the pinnacle of this "capable character" lineage. As the NIS brain with sharp analytical skills and strong task-execution ability, she reliably backs up Director Jo. But she also has the boldness to speak her mind without reserve when she thinks she is right. With Jung Yu-jin's distinctive intellectual aura and solid acting foundation, she is expected to amplify the film's tense atmosphere.
Having shown the epitome of "capable characters" in every work and received praise from the public, attention is focused on what powerful transformation Jung Yu-jin will deliver this time in "Humint" and whether she will redefine her signature role.
Meanwhile, the film "Humint," starring Jung Yu-jin, opens nationwide on Feb. 11.
