Top actors Noh Sang Hyun and Gong Seung-yeon make an elegant transformation as "Perfect Crown."
In the new MBC Friday-Saturday drama "Perfect Crown," written by Yoo Ji-won, directed by Park Joon-hwa and Bae Hee-young, and planned by Kang Dae-seon, which will premiere in April 2026, Noh Sang Hyun and Gong Seung-yeon play Prime Minister Min Jung-woo and queen dowager Yoon I-rang, respectively, bringing a fresh tension to the fate-seeking, status-defying romance.
First, in the story Min Jung-woo is the eldest son of the Min political family, which produced a grandfather and father who both served as prime minister, succeeding them to the office. With his status, handsome looks, smart mind and kind personality, he ranks as the number one "man people want to marry," enjoying attention and popularity from women across Korea.
He maintains an impeccable exterior and rarely shows his inner thoughts, but he reveals his honest feelings to Grand Prince IAAN (played by Byeon Woo-seok), with whom he has built friendship and trust since their school days. However, after Grand Prince IAAN decides to marry school junior Seong Hee-joo (played by IU), unrest begins to stir in Min Jung-woo's heart. It becomes intriguing how Min Jung-woo might become a variable in the two people's contract marriage.
If Min Jung-woo supports the political world, queen dowager Yoon I-rang supports Korea's royal family. Born into the Yoon clan that produced four queens, Yoon I-rang grew up learning to hide her emotions and live like a flower. She has willingly accepted her fate to become the highest-ranking woman in the country and part of history, presenting the image of a perfect queen.
But when a suddenly young son ascends the throne, Yoon I-rang's life as queen dowager begins to take a different trajectory. In particular, the existence of Grand Prince IAAN, who enjoys overwhelming public support, increasingly heightens Yoon I-rang's anxiety. Attention focuses on whether Yoon I-rang can protect her son and her own fate until the end amid this precarious reality.
Among the released photos, Min Jung-woo and Yoon I-rang stand at the center of politics and the royal family, exuding an elegant atmosphere. Min Jung-woo projects the bearing of a prime minister leading a nation with a gentle smile, while Yoon I-rang displays the dignity of the royal family's senior with her graceful bearing.
Attention is also focused on the performances of Noh Sang Hyun and Gong Seung-yeon, who will portray the stories of Min Jung-woo and Yoon I-rang as they try to preserve their own fates. Having left a deep impression on viewers through extensive film and drama work, the new facets the two actors will reveal through the characters Min Jung-woo and Yoon I-rang in "Perfect Crown" are eagerly anticipated.
The new MBC Friday-Saturday drama "Perfect Crown," in which Prime Minister Noh Sang Hyun and queen dowager Gong Seung-yeon show different sides of themselves, is set against a 21st-century constitutional monarchy Korea and follows the fate-seeking, status-defying romance of a chaebol who has everything but is annoyingly of commoner status, and a sad man who is the king's son but has nothing; it will premiere in April.
