Actor Song Ji-ho played the role of Hong Dae-il in episode 11 of the drama To My Beloved Thief and was a lively presence in the series.
On the 7th episode of KBS2's To My Beloved Thief, episode 11, a tense situation unfolded in which the awakened Lee Gyu (played by Ha Seok-jin) suspected Hong Dae-il as the person who shot him and carried out an interrogation.
Hong Dae-il faced a life-or-death crisis, but thanks to the witty defenses of Hong Eun-jo (played by Nam Ji-hyun) and Im Jae-i (played by Hong Min-gi), he was able to be released safely. In particular, Hong Eun-jo testified that he failed the military examination every year due to low archery scores, washing away the assassination suspicions and creating a bittersweet situation.
Having overcome the crisis, Hong Dae-il turned the mood around with his characteristic cheeky charm. To Chun-seom (played by Seo Young-hee) and Hong Eun-jo he said, "My body, I know it—I'm completely recovered," reassuring his family, and at the same time Hong Dae-il embarrassed Yi Yeol (played by Moon Sang Min) by asking, "I was so sleepy from the medicine I couldn't ask, but what is your relationship with Daegunmama?" while touching Eun-jo's body.
He also asked the lord who saved him, "It felt like he knew me very well. He treated me like family. Does he have me in his heart? As one of his people?" and displayed endearing clumsiness by praising his own facial features as that of a "loyal Jindo dog," relieving the drama's tension in a pleasant way.
In episode 11, Song Ji-ho showcased a wide acting range from a warm side that reassured his family to sharp deductive skills and absurd misunderstandings. His presence, which flexibly moderated a storyline that could have become heavy, was more than enough to capture viewers' attention.
Meanwhile, the KBS2 weekend drama To My Beloved Thief, whose interest is heightened by Song Ji-ho's passionate performance, airs every Saturday and Sunday at 9:20 p.m.
