Kwon Mina, formerly of girl group AOA, complained that she suffered burns during a dermatology procedure.
On the 8th, Kwon Mina posted a long message on her social media and said, "From late January to February I had a lot of good things scheduled and many appointments, so wanting to look pretty I received 600 shots of Shurink lifting. When I opened my eyes I felt a pain like my skin tearing and cried; I asked to see the mirror, and my skin was peeled layer by layer from burns and rolled up, and there was oozing and blisters."
She added, "I was just desperate. The director said nothing happened during the procedure. He said the only cause could be a defective Shurink tip, so when I asked if he hadn't checked the tip he said if the tip was defective it wouldn't operate. Then what could the cause be?" She said the clinic was a place she visited regularly once a month.
She wrote, "Since last month they did not ask for the anesthesia consent form, the procedure information consent form, or permission to take photos. I never had a skin exam or diagnosis before the procedure. Of course there was no explanation, but because I had signed a consent form in Oct. 2025 they said they could not make me sign it every time I came. Why did other dermatology clinics have me sign it every time, then?"
Kwon Mina said, "I have never received a Shurink information or side effects consent form," and "He said he had never violated the Medical Service Act. So he must not have violated it, right? I don't know either. This just triggered a panic attack, and my mother ended up seeing the condition of my face and cried. I'm upset. And I cried while saying sorry every day for postponing or canceling schedules."
She continued, "Burn treatment and scar treatment. I still don't know when it will end or whether scars will form. I'm so upset that I have to miss so many opportunities. Why do opportunities that never came before come now? I don't really know why my life is going this way," and she added, "The diagnosis is deep second-degree burns. Even worse, 10% of my body is entirely burned on the face," expressing her pain.
Kwon Mina said, "Even the damages. The deposits or payments I was supposed to receive—of all times opportunities to earn money came now. They were all jobs that required my face to be shown, and although makeup is necessary, I can't even apply sunscreen until at least February," and "I only explained and calculated the specific damage amounts, incurred amounts, and amounts for work I couldn't proceed with, and left things like emotional damages for the director to assess. I wanted only to recover the money I lost and the money I could not receive, and I thought if I went to trial the clinic would not be in a favorable position, so this was the last rational consideration I could make," she said, saying the matter eventually led to a lawsuit.
Kwon Mina debuted and promoted as an AOA member in 2012, producing hit songs such as "Heart Attack," "Like a Cat," and "Short Skirt," but left the group in 2019. Afterwards she claimed she was bullied by a specific AOA member, causing conflict, and while taking a break from entertainment activities she worked as a dermatology consultation manager.
