Group Epik High member Tablo's daughter Haru's fluent English skills are a hot topic.
A new video was recently posted on the YouTube channel "Epik High" titled "I'll tell the story of a stalker entering Two-cut's house ft. Western-style pork cutlet."
That day Tablo praised Two-cut, saying, "You're cool. You had a lot of presence," and then asked, "Do people not use the expression 'had presence' anymore?" Two-cut asked, "That's an expression for people in their 40s. Wasn't that something we used after 2010?" and Tablo recalled, "By the time Big Bang came out, people didn't use the word 'presence,' did they? Cap, jjang, ganji, or presence?"
Two-cut laughed and said, "Before that there was ttabong," and Tablo said, "In English, 'Swag' isn't used anymore. It's the same as us doing ttabong." Two-cut asked, "Now don't people say 'Lit (awesome)'?" When the staff murmured, Tablo said, "I'll ask Haru. These change almost every one to two weeks."
At that moment, Haru, who answered the phone, surprised netizens with her fluent English pronunciation. When Tablo asked, "How do people say things like 'jjang' or 'cool' these days?", Haru naturally replied in English, "That's awesome, more or less. 'Swag' isn't used anymore."
Tablo said, "Uncle Two-cut asked if you use 'Lit'," and Haru said, "Some people use it sometimes, but personally I don't really say 'Oh! That's lit.'" However, she added that using 'Lit' doesn't make someone uncool. Haru said, "These days it's not like one single word suddenly becomes a trend. People mostly use 'That's awesome' and 'great' the most."
Netizens who saw this reacted with comments such as "Haru's English intonation is on point. So cool," "Haru speaks English like a foreign language instructor," "Where did baby Haru go?", "Haru sounds totally native, my aunt was shocked," and "Haru has really grown up."
Meanwhile, Tablo married actress Kang Hye-jung in 2009 and the next year they had a daughter, Haru. Tablo appeared with Haru on KBS 2TV "The Return of SUPERMAN" in 2013 and received much love, and Haru is now 17 and about to enter high school.
