ENA Monday-Tuesday drama Honour (directed by Park Gun-ho, written by Park Ga-yeon, planned by KT Studio Genie, produced by How Pictures, hereafter "Honour") opened the hunt toward a vast mystery. Centered on the three lawyers of the law firm L&J (Listen & Join), Yoon Ra-young (Lee Na-young), Kang Shin-jae (Jung Eun-Chae), and Hwang Hyun-jin (Lee Chung-ah), who were established to help female crime victims, the mystery expanded at once as a past hidden behind 20 years of friendship, the shadow of a massive sex trafficking scandal, and an unidentified assault became entangled. Ahead of the third episode airing tomorrow (9th), we compiled the mystery "bait" to watch.
#1. What is the secret shared by Lee Na-young, Jung Eun-Chae and Lee Chung-ah, and what is Lee Na-young's trauma case?
The leaders of L&J, Yoon Ra-young, Kang Shin-jae and Hwang Hyun-jin, are friends and colleagues of 20 years. However, it was hinted that beneath their solid relationship lies a single past incident that occupies a deep place. In particular, Yoon Ra-young responded to Hwang Hyun-jin, who, pushed on the defensive and excited, blurted out, "Aren't you overidentifying with Jo Yoo-jung (Park Se-hyun)?" by saying, "If you only acted like this toward Yoo-jung, I would be fine with it. I always see myself when I look at other clients," revealing that the trauma she experienced in the past touches the current cases.
There is also a number that repeatedly appears to the three. It is "2005." That is because the vintage wine delivered to the 10th anniversary ceremony had a production year of 2005, and the year the photo containing what appeared to be the three lawyers' childhood schoolgirls was taken was also 2005. In addition, a doodle clearly showing the number "2005" scratched on the rear window of Kang Shin-jae's car was revealed in the preview video for episode 3, adding to the suspicion. Kang Shin-jae's embarrassed expression suggests that this number is by no means of light meaning to the three friends. What happened to them on that day in the past, and why the shadow of that day has begun to chase them again now, are expected to be closely connected to future developments.
#2. What is the reality of the secret sex trafficking app "Connect-in" that could "topple the country"?
The truth of the massive sex trafficking scandal that slain reporter Lee Jun-hyuk (Lee Chung-ju) secretly investigated is slowly being revealed. He warned that this case went beyond simple prostitution and "would topple the country if opened." According to testimony from Lee Seon-hwa (Baek Ji-hye), who helped his reporting, it is related to a closed secret sex trafficking app, "Connect-in," that the general public cannot even access. It is presumed that minor sexual assault victim Jo Yoo-jung and the perpetrator actor Kang Eun-seok (Lee Chan-hyung) also met through this app, and it is possible that Kang Eun-seok's backers killed reporter Lee Jun-hyuk to prevent the scandal from breaking out and framed Jo Yoo-jung.
In court, Kang Eun-seok made a mysterious sound like "ttararalang" to pressure Jo Yoo-jung, which turned out to be the service alert of "Connect-in." The same sound was heard on another sexual exploitation victim's phone. Their crimes, carried out systematically in secluded places such as isolated villas, were shocking in themselves. There was a dedicated clean-up team to perfectly conceal the crimes, and they did not hesitate to incinerate villa scenes and thoroughly destroy all evidence such as bloodstains and fingerprints. How far this scandal that could topple the country reaches is Honour's biggest mystery watching point.
#3. The assaulted Lee Na-young, who is the green-hooded figure and who is the next target?
At the end of episode 2, Yoon Ra-young was assaulted by a masked attacker wearing a green hood who had followed her to her officetel. The assailant subdued the defenseless Yoon Ra-young and stabbed the back of her hand with an awl. The fact that the back of the hand, not a fatal spot, was targeted indicates it was interpreted more as a powerful warning terror than a life-threatening attack.
Immediately after the broadcast, viewers poured in theories that this attacker was the same group that raided Lee Jun-hyuk's office, since they too wore their hooded caps flipped back. Whether the green hood is a henchman of a large backer or a third person with a different purpose has sparked explosive curiosity about the attacker's identity. Moreover, with Yoon Ra-young becoming the first target, Kang Shin-jae and Hwang Hyun-jin, who are investigating the case together, also do not seem safe, raising the drama's tension to a peak.
ENA Monday-Tuesday drama Honour episode 3 will air tomorrow (9th) at 10 p.m. on ENA and will be available on KT Genie TV and Coupang Play.
