Director Jeong Jin-woo of the film "Does the Cuckoo Cry at Night" died today (the 8th). He was 88.
On the 8th, according to the film industry and the bereaved family, Director Jeong Jin-woo died at around 8 p.m. at a nursing hospital in Gangnam District, Seoul.
The late Director Jeong Jin-woo was hospitalized after a fall while walking his pet dog about two months ago. He later contracted COVID-19 and did not recover his health.
He was born in 1938 in Gimpo, Gyeonggi Province, and debuted in film in 1962 with "Only Son." He went on to leave representative works including "Betrayal," starring Shin Seong-il and Eom Aeng-ran, as well as "Does the Cuckoo Cry at Night," "The Rose of Sharon Has Bloomed," "Long Live the Island Frog," and "The Parrot Cried with a Human Body." In 2007, he was awarded the French Order of Cultural and Artistic Merit.
Survived by his wife, one son and two daughters, the funeral hall will be set up at Samsung Medical Center in Gangnam, Seoul.
