Actor Seon Woo-yong-yeo calmly recounted the background of her decision to go to the United States and the time she spent there.
On the 7th, the YouTube channel "Knowledge Inside" released a video titled "You can tell at a glance: how a 60-year veteran actor sees through people." On that day, Seon Woo-yong-yeo appeared as a guest and calmly recounted the moments that became turning points in her life.
On the broadcast, Seon Woo-yong-yeo mentioned that the catalyst for deciding to go to the United States was a question from her daughter. She recalled, "When my daughter asked, 'Why is the woman next door at home?' it woke me up," and said, "I thought, this is not it." She added, "My siblings were also abroad, and the living conditions were already in place, so I decided to go to the United States," noting that she requested to leave two dramas she was appearing in at the time and took a preparation period.
She said, "It wasn't that I left to study like these days; I wanted to spend time with the children," and "I had no plan to send them to any particular school." After arriving in the United States, she bought a sewing factory and ran it for a year but closed it after difficulties, and later opened a restaurant that she operated for about five years. Seon Woo-yong-yeo looked back, saying, "It was hard, but I could endure it."
After graduating from beauty school and finding a job, she received an unexpected offer to return to acting. Seon Woo-yong-yeo explained, "Not long after I started going to the beauty salon, a producer in Seoul contacted me and offered me a part in the yearlong drama "History flows."" She added that her children were then a college freshman and a high school senior, respectively.
Seon Woo-yong-yeo said that living in the United States changed her perception of acting. She said, "I used to think of acting only as expressing emotion," and "running a restaurant and directly experiencing people's various joys and sorrows changed my view of acting." She said that based on this experience she was later able to clearly communicate her conditions for roles.
Finally, she said, "When I decided to return to Korea, seeing the children happy made me feel conflicted," and added, "I have worked nonstop since 1989."
Meanwhile, Seon Woo-yong-yeo was born in 1945 and is 80 this year. She has worked as an actress and a former businessperson, and recently has been sharing her daily life and communicating with the public through the YouTube channel "Sunpung Seon Woo-yong-yeo."<
