Bianca Censori spoke publicly for the first time about the 'Venice water taxi exposure controversy' involving her husband Kanye West.
In a recent interview with Bettini Fair, Bianca Censori said, "I understand how the public perceived the photos and videos," but drew a line, saying, "That did not actually happen." It was the first official interview the two gave since their marriage.
The controversy occurred in August 2023 in Venice, Italy. Paparazzi photos at the time captured what appeared to be Kanye West's pants pulled down on a water taxi and a scene in which Censori appeared to be kneeling in front of him, raising suspicions of "indecent conduct in a public place." The photos and videos spread worldwide shortly after their release.
Censori explained, "I was simply kneeling on a stool and resting my head on his knee," adding, "There was no sexual activity." She also said that an aunt was on the boat at the time and added, "It wasn't a situation in which we would behave like that."
However, the fallout from the controversy did not subside easily. Censori said, "That incident was really humiliating for me," and added, "It was especially because of my father. For the first time, I felt genuinely ashamed then." She also said, "As I've matured as a person, I now pay less attention to others' gazes."
Meanwhile, after the incident, the Venice water taxi company the two had used said, "If such conduct had actually occurred, we would have immediately ordered them to disembark," and added, "The company distances itself from that behavior, and the two can no longer use our boats," effectively imposing a permanent ban.
At the time, local media reported that Kanye West and Censori could face police investigation for possible indecent conduct in a public place. Venice authorities also said, "Complaints have been filed about the images that spread worldwide." However, it was not clearly confirmed whether any actual punishment occurred.
Censori met Kanye West while working together at his fashion brand Yeezy, and the two married in December 2022. Through this interview, Censori drew attention by speaking directly for the first time about the high-profile controversies that had continued.
