Advertising industry cutoffs continue for Park Na-rae, who has halted activities.
On the 7th, OSEN confirmed that Omni Shopping, a collaborative offering by Lotte Group's retail affiliates, has set some of the advertising videos featuring Park Na-rae, which were released in 2017, to private. Currently those ads only show messages such as "Cannot play video" and "This is a private video," but because some of Park Na-rae's advertisements remain publicly available, a complete severing of ties does not appear to be happening.
The ads were part of an advertising campaign presented in 2017 as a collaboration among Lotte Group's retail affiliates. Actors Kwak Do-won and Yum Jung-ah appeared in the first campaign, and the second campaign cast I Live Alone cast members Jun Hyun-moo, Han Hye-jin, Kim Yong-gun, Park Na-rae, and Lee Si-eon. The scenes captured models representing lifestyle across generations reacting with surprise at the convenience of the service, and it is reported that Park Na-rae's jump shot was very popular on set.
Park Na-rae is currently embroiled in a bitter dispute with her former managers. On Dec. 3 of last year, Park Na-rae's former managers filed for a provisional seizure of real estate worth about 100 million won at the Seoul Western District Court, alleging workplace harassment, proxy prescriptions and nonpayment of production fees, and then filed a complaint with the Seoul Gangnam Police Station accusing Park Na-rae of special injury, defamation by false statements, and violation of the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection. In response, Park Na-rae filed a complaint against her former managers for attempted extortion and then filed an additional complaint alleging embezzlement in the course of business.
Allegations against Park Na-rae go beyond power abuse. There are also allegations of illegal medical procedures known as the so-called "injection aunt gate." Park Na-rae has said she believed the injection aunt was a "doctor" and that she was also deceived, but it is reported that no decisive action has been taken in response.
After allegations of power abuse and illegal medical procedures emerged, Park Na-rae said, "I will stop all activities for the time being and take time to focus on sorting out this matter. I will reflect on my responsibility and attitude in my position. Issues that require time will be calmly handled through proper procedures," declaring a halt to activities and a firm response.
Advertising industry cutoffs have also begun for Park Na-rae, who has suspended activities amid the allegations. Immediately after the controversy, Samsung Electronics' Galaxy S20, American Tourister, and LotteON removed or set to private ads and posts featuring Park Na-rae, while beauty medical information app Babitok, mobile game Three Kingdoms Black Label, canker sore treatment Albothyl, beauty brand Hanskin, and spam-blocking app WhosCall took the same measures for videos related to Park Na-rae. In addition, as the Lotte Omni Shopping ad released about eight years ago was set to private, it suggests the advertising industry is closely watching the allegations surrounding Park Na-rae.
Meanwhile, Park Na-rae appears in Disney+'s "destiny war 49," which is set to be released on the 11th. The show brings together 49 destiny practitioners who test their fates through various missions in a possessed survival format, and Park Na-rae joins as a panelist.
