Former actor-turned-politician Lee Dae-yeop, former mayor of Seongnam, met the 11th anniversary of his death. He was 80.
On June 6, 2015, Lee died at Korea University Guro Hospital in Seoul of complications including pulmonary edema.
The cause of death was reported as complications including pulmonary edema.
He debuted in 1958 with the film 'Only I' and was active in the film industry. In particular, he received great love through "The Red Scarf" (1964) and appeared in about 100 films including 'Obaltan', 'Be Strong, Geum-soon', 'The Atrocities of Myeong-dong', 'My! Abadi Omani', 'A Long Journey, A Long Tunnel', 'The Third Operation', and 'Sailor and Admiral'. He built a distinctive character in action films and received the Baeksang Arts Awards special prize in the film category in 1987.
Having built his career as an actor, he entered politics and served as a three-term member of the National Assembly and mayor of Seongnam.
