The family relations of contestant Choi Minasu, who drew attention for her strong presence on Netflix reality show 'Single's Inferno 5,' are receiving belated attention. It was revealed that influencer and entrepreneur Coco Choi, known for luxury brand unboxings and travel vlogs, was her aunt.
This fact was again spotlighted in a video posted on Coco Choi's YouTube channel in May 2024. At the time, a video titled "We're different from ordinary sisters 'Gijongsse' introducing the Cha family's five sisters" was released, and in the video description Coco Choi's younger sister left a message herself.
The message contained the following: "I am Coco unni's third younger sister, the fourth younger sister Kkokji, who is greeting you for the first time today. After the funeral I am only now gathering myself and standing in front of the camera," and "Seeing the numerous condolence comments on the memorial video brought great comfort to the whole family. To reach the 100,000 subscribers my sister always shouted about, we will continue YouTube."
The video also included a scene in which Coco's sister, the third daughter with outstanding beauty, appears and reveals that she is Choi Minasu's mother. She said, "I was an ordinary person who did not use social media at all, but when my daughter became Miss Korea and placed at the Miss Earth international beauty pageant, I unwillingly became known as 'MiCo mom.'"
From her first appearance on 'Single's Inferno 5,' Choi Minasu drew attention in a yellow dress and also made headlines for wearing accessories worth tens of millions of won. Since the broadcast, interest has continued as her background and family history have been reexamined.
Meanwhile, Coco Choi passed away on Nov. 18, 2023. According to associates, she had been diagnosed with osteosarcoma that spring and was battling the disease; after finishing her final chemotherapy treatment in November and while recovering, her health suddenly worsened one day before a planned YouTube shoot and she died. Waves of mourning followed.
Earlier, in Sept. 2023 Coco Choi said, "For three years and six months since I started YouTube I have uploaded videos without missing a single week," and "I will take a short break to recover my condition and return in a more upgraded form," announcing a suspension of activities, which made the situation feel even more poignant.
