Coupang Play series "Right now, adultery is not the problem" (directed by Lee Chang-hee | written by Jung Eun-kyeong, Park Su-rin | featuring: Kim Hye-soo, Cho Yeojeong, Kim Ji-hun, Kim Jae-cheol) confirmed for production and unveiled a casting lineup whose names alone boast an overwhelming presence.
Coupang Play series "Right now, adultery is not the problem" is a runaway black comedy of chained collisions in which a popular influencer couple who have sold the image of a happy family and a neighbor doctor couple mired in a messy divorce lawsuit become entangled in an unbearable secret that makes even adultery seem trivial.
The cast brings together South Korea's leading actors who have built irreplaceable careers in their respective fields. Kim Hye-soo, who has proven an unrivaled presence and overwhelming acting power with new transformations in every work such as the film "Smuggling", the drama "Unmasked", and "Under The Queen's Umbrella", takes on the role of Kyung-hee, the CEO of an interior design company and a popular influencer thirsty for greater success.
Cho Yeojeong, who has showcased her acting with vivid, three-dimensional characters in films such as "My Daughter is a Zombie", "Hidden Face", "Parasite", and the drama "Made In Korea", plays Su-jeong, a dermatologist who lives in the house across from Kyung-hee and endures everything to protect her only remaining daughter.
Kim Ji-hun, who has been active across genres in drama "Money Heist: Korea - Joint Economic Area", "Nice to Not Meet You", the global project "Butterfly", and the variety show "Crime Scene Zero", plays Jae-hong, Kyung-hee's husband, an actor living in the shadow of his successful wife.
Kim Jae-cheol, who stamped his mark on 10 million viewers with the film "Exhuma" and has shown a wide acting spectrum in dramas such as "Nice to Not Meet You" and "Love Your Enemy", will add intense energy as Bo-seong, Su-jeong's ex-husband who spares no means to regain custody of his daughter.
Although the four attention-grabbing actors may appear to be entangled by adultery, secrets hidden beneath the surface are revealed one by one, plunging them into a whirlpool of unpredictable incidents. Expectations focus on the weighty synergy the four actors will create through performances that explode each character's desires.
At the script reading held upon confirmation of production, the actors quickly found their rhythm and showed an immersion that evoked actual filming. It was reported that the work's tone emerged clearly amid lines that alternated tight tension and laughter.
After the reading, Kim Hye-soo said, "Everything was unique. The way the story is unfolded, the characters' individuality and the ensemble were all interesting," and Cho Yeojeong said, "A nail-biting farce unfolding from a single incident is excitingly presented through the actors' chemistry. Please look forward to it," expressing her thoughts. Kim Ji-hun said, "The stories were fun and had a fresh feeling that wasn't obvious. I will work hard so that the set can be enjoyable until the last shoot," and Kim Jae-cheol added, "I will strive to convey the thrill I felt when reading the script to everyone. Please look forward to the feast of performances by the various characters that will unfold within director Lee Chang-hee's world. We will come back with a good work."
The director is Lee Chang-hee, who has been recognized for his unique sensibility through works such as the drama "The Murderer Is Not Easy", "Strangers from Hell", and the film "The Vanished Night". Production will be handled by First Man Studio, jointly founded by director Hwang Dong-hyuk and producer Kim Ji-yeon, who sparked a global syndrome with the "Squid Game Season" series. In particular, director Hwang Dong-hyuk serves as showrunner and producer, strengthening the overall completion of the work.
