Chris Noth, best known as 'Mr. Big' from the popular U.S. drama Sex and the City, has once again become the center of controversy for remarks targeting his former co-star Sarah Jessica Parker.
Noth attended the charity fashion event "Blue Jacket Fashion Show" in New York on the 4th (local time) and, in an interview with the Daily Mail, said of his character being written dead in the early part of the Sex and the City reboot And Just Like That, "I was actually lucky (they killed me off)," and "I'm very glad I'm not more deeply involved in that show, which has now been canceled."
Chris Noth recently appeared on the podcast Really Famous with Kara Mayer Robinson and said he was deeply hurt by Sarah Jessica Parker's attitude during the sexual assault allegations against him that surfaced in 2021. He said, "She didn't call me even once," and "I was very disappointed that she issued a public statement without hearing my side." At the time, Parker issued a joint statement with Sex and the City co-stars Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis saying, "We support the women who found the courage to speak out."
Regarding this, Noth said, "That statement felt like 'brand management' rather than friendship," and expressed hurt, saying, "If you had known someone for decades, I think you should at least have called to verify the facts." He added, "Everything changed after that. It was very hurtful and had a decisive impact on the relationship."
He especially said, "If positions had changed I would definitely have contacted her first," and added that the incident made him realize who his real friends are. These remarks suggested that the two are effectively estranged.
When asked about his relationship with Parker during a red carpet interview, Noth responded firmly, "I have nothing to say. It's already over." Parker's side has not issued a separate statement at this time.
However, it also emerged that he is not on bad terms with all the cast. At the event, he was seen warmly mingling with actor Mario Cantone, and Cantone said, "There is no tension between Noth and me. It was good to see him again." Noth also said he is still in contact with John Corbett and that he recently sent a birthday message to Kim Cattrall, who did not participate in the reboot.
The controversy did not end there. Last month, when Parker received the Carol Burnett Award at the Golden Globes, Noth posted a suggestive message on social media, and when a fan asked, "Were you taking a shot at Sarah Jessica Parker and her award?" he replied, "Right," fanning the flames again.
Noth was accused by two women in 2021 of sexual assault, but he was not criminally charged. He has consistently maintained, "All were consensual relationships, and I deny the allegations entirely." However, his agency terminated his contract shortly after the controversy, and he left projects he was appearing in.
Meanwhile, he is preparing to return to acting with the horror film The Block and hinted that "it will be a very bloody work." He said he is also working on theater projects.
