'Dad and me' Jun Hyun-moo and Han Hye-jin expressed frustration at their parents' frugal habits.
On the 4th, the TV CHOSUN variety show "Dad and me" portrayed the daily life of Jeon Soo-kyung and her 97-year-old father.
That day Jeon Soo-kyung visited her father's home for the first time in a while. She checked whether he was taking his yakgwa and supplements properly, looked around the house, and when envelopes, water bottles, and boxes were found here and there she launched into a storm of nagging.
Jeon Soo-kyung took out the paid garbage bags she had brought from Seoul and began cleaning up the trash, and he said, "If I'm going to throw it away I have to do it right away. I told him before to throw it in the paid garbage bag, but he would slightly take it out and bring it back into the house," she said. Jun Hyun-moo sympathized and said, "When I go to my parents' home I secretly take a bundle and throw it away. They don't even know it's been thrown away."
Jeon Soo-kyung's nagging continued. Seeing this, Jun Hyun-moo asked Han Hye-jin, "Are you the kind to nag your mother?" Han Hye-jin replied, "I tend to. 'I shouldn't hurt mom's feelings' but when I meet her I end up doing it. For example, saving so much it becomes a problem."
Then Jun Hyun-moo said, "I've seen it become a problem. If you buy expensive cosmetics and the expiration date passes and you try to throw them away, (my mother) would say, 'Don't throw it away, I'll put it on my feet,'" he complained, drawing laughter.
Jun Hyun-moo also said, "Once I tried giving cash instead of a gift. I opened the drawer and there were old bundles of money. When I asked what those were, my mother said, 'Oh my, what is this?' They looked like artifacts from after liberation. The money I gave was still there. She hadn't touched it," he recounted.
Jeon Soo-kyung said, "When you get gift certificates you think you'll use them later but you forget or the expiration date passes," and Jun Hyun-moo expressed frustration, saying, "When the date passes they get as sad as if the country had fallen."
Later Jun Hyun-moo, recalling that Im Hyung-ju once gifted his mother saying, "My mother is picky about her eyes. She always uses a specific brand of cream. Her favorite cream," said, "Could it be LaXre? That's it. My mother saved that and put it on her feet," turning the moment into a sea of laughter.
