Former 4Minute member Heo Ga-yoon recalled her brother who passed away earlier and ultimately broke down in tears.
A preview aired at the end of the tvN variety show You Quiz on the Block broadcast on the 4th showed Heo Ga-yoon living a new life in Bali. Introduced as saying, "I have found humble happiness in Bali," Heo Ga-yoon said, "I've already been living here for three years," and shared an update.
That day Heo Ga-yoon frankly revealed the wounds and personal pain she experienced during her time as an idol in conversation with MC Yu Jae-seok. She mentioned experiencing school violence during her school years and said calmly, "I think I chose to just take the hits," evoking sympathy. She also confessed to having suffered from binge eating disorder in the past, saying, "I couldn't tell anyone, and it only stopped when my stomach hurt," leaving a deep impression.
In particular, Heo Ga-yoon became teary when she brought up her brother who suddenly passed away. She said, "My brother suddenly passed away. Our parents said, 'If you weren't here, we would want to follow you,'" and was unable to continue. The preview captured the moment she thought of her brother and ultimately could not compose herself, crying, which left viewers moved.
Heo Ga-yoon lost her biological brother in December 2020. Her brother had a chronic illness, and his condition worsened, causing him to die at a young age, which made the situation more tragic.
Earlier, Heo Ga-yoon had mentioned her brother on a recent 'Sebasi' lecture stage. She recalled, "One dawn, I received a call from my mother and heard that my brother had suddenly passed away," and said, "My brother, who worked at a clothing company, was always busy and was so devoted to his work that he often couldn't properly join family dinners."
