On Radio Star, GREE (Kim Dong-hyun), who completed his marine service, finally used the heartfelt term "mother" for his stepmother, whom he had been calling "noona."
The MBC program Radio Star, which aired on the 4th, was presented as a special titled "SHOW! walking the flower road~" featuring Kim Won-joon, Cho Hye-lyeon, Hanhae, and GREE.
GREE shared the behind-the-scenes story of completing the long-standing life task of sorting out how to address his stepmother upon his discharge. Before enlisting, GREE had publicly declared, "After I'm discharged, I will call my stepmother 'mother.'"
GREE admitted that changing how he addressed her was far from easy. He said, "In my heart I had already thought of her as mother long ago," but added, "However, when I actually tried to say out loud, 'From now on I'll call you mother,' it felt as embarrassed and nerve-wracking as confessing to a romantic interest, so the words wouldn't come out," drawing laughter from the studio.
GREE's worry continued until the day before his discharge. Ultimately, lacking the courage to say it face to face, he tried to call, but coincidentally his stepmother did not answer the phone. GREE then ended the long era of calling her "noona" by leaving a message that contained the sincere single word "mother" in a text he had written with great care.
