Chef Yoon Nam-no revealed the wages he earned as the youngest kitchen worker during harsh times on 'Save me! Homes'.
On the May 5 broadcast of MBC entertainment program 'Save me! Homes' (abbreviated Homes), Park Eun-young and chef Yoon Nam-no toured the restaurants and homes of chefs who appeared in the "Culinary Class Wars" series with Kim Sook.
More than half of the restaurants of the chefs who appeared in the "Culinary Class Wars" series are concentrated in the Gangnam and Yongsan areas of Seoul. In response, chef Park Eun-young explained, "It's a place where you can run a store stably. It's a safe bet."
However, chef Yoon Nam-no critiqued, "Yongsan is a neighborhood with a bit more romance," adding, "There are many underdogs. Rents aren't cheap, but there are many small shops, whereas in Gangnam the rent itself is just too high." In response, chef Park Eun-young also said, "Yongsan feels like a friend's blind date, Gangnam feels like a mother's arranged marriage," commenting on the rent difference.
In fact, the restaurant of Trendsetter, who appeared on 'Culinary Class Wars 2' and whom they met, was clustered around Yongsan's 'Yongridan-gil' area. He said that when he first opened a shop five years ago, he looked for a place with cheap rent and settled in Yongsan. At the time, when his total assets were 50 million won, he invested 105 million won to open the shop, and he contracted with a deposit of 20 million won and a monthly rent of 2.5 million won, and he is currently maintaining a monthly rent in the 3 million won range.
Remembering those hard times, he became known for giving the highest base pay to his shop chefs. When chef Park Eun-young, who recently opened her own restaurant, blamed herself saying, "I'm sorry to my kids," chef Yoon Nam-no comforted her, asking, "Did you get paid a lot?"
Chef Yoon Nam-no revealed, "My first salary was 760,000 won. After three months it became 1,050,000 won," causing shock. Chef Park Eun-young added, "My first salary was 1,600,000 won, and Chinese cuisine leaves the impression of being relatively rough, so it's on the expensive side," adding to the surprise.<
