'Habsuk Matchmaking' reaches its much-anticipated final selection, and a dramatic twist keeps tensions high until the end.
SBS entertainment program 'Habsuk Matchmaking' is a surreal reality dating show in which 10 single men and women who want to marry and 10 mothers who want their children to marry live together in one place for five nights and six days, watching their children's romances unfold right before their eyes. Seo Jang-hoon, Lee Yo-won and Kim Yo-han join as the three hosts, raising engagement with witty analysis and empathy as well as lively back-and-forth exchanges from different perspectives.
In tonight's (the 5th) finale, a special rule unique to 'Habsuk Matchmaking' that accompanies the final selection is revealed, startling the three hosts. Even if the matchmaking man and woman choose each other, the final couple is formed only if the mother gives her approval. Reacting to the twice-as-intense 'Habsuk Matchmaking final selection' rule, Lee Yo-won exclaimed, "Oh my, really?" in surprise, then added, "It will really not be easy to become a couple," expressing concern.
Ahead of the final selection, both mothers, excluding their own children, each point to one person and have a last sincere conversation, which heightens the tension. Lee Yo-won said, "It's the final interview," noting that she was more nervous. In particular, Seohan-gyeol's mother calls Jo Eun-na-rae, drawing attention. Earlier, Seohan-gyeol's mother had opposed the match because of a seven-year age gap and frankly told Jo Eun-na-rae, "I'm worried about the age difference," sending tensions skyrocketing. Seo Jang-hoon expressed concern, saying, "Seohan-gyeol's mother seems likely to oppose in the final selection," increasing curiosity about whether Jo Eun-na-rae and Seohan-gyeol can overcome real-world obstacles to become the final couple.
Meanwhile, Kim Myo-jin falls into deep 고민 up until just before the final selection between the same-age, heart-fluttering Moon Sehoon and the younger, comforting Lee Seung-hak. Especially after finishing conversations with the mothers of both Moon Sehoon and Lee Seung-hak, Kim Myo-jin's 고민 deepens further. Seo Jang-hoon and Kim Yo-han agreed, "You marry someone because you like the person. You're not marrying their mother," uniting on 'love,' while Lee Yo-won countered, "That's true, but you can't exclude the mother-in-law in marriage," and they clashed evenly.
It is also reported that a matchmaking pair whose final couple fell through due to the mother's opposition actually appears, leaving the studio in shock. The three hosts were at a loss for words and kept reconfirming the hard-to-believe reality, asking, "Really?" and Seo Jang-hoon finally sighed, "What a twist," focusing attention on which couple failed to become the final couple.
Whether the matchmaking men and women can get past the final hurdle of the mothers' approval and whether a final couple will be born sends expectations soaring.
