Yel unveiled the new single "Narcissist" music video along with the song release on the 2nd. The music video was produced using AI technology and attracts attention with its sensory direction and narrative composition.
The music video depicts the process of a pure soul gradually collapsing and heading toward catastrophe after being gaslighted by a narcissist. Animation scenes like a cruel fairy tale for adults and a dancer's performance expressing the character's inner emotions alternate, progressively building the story's tension. The narrative grows darker and visually amplifies the song's message.
The recording also completes a restrained tension and dense sound through a vocal tone and genre choices different from Yel's usual image. The sound, which delicately captures emotional fractures and distorted relationships, meshes with the music video's narrative to enhance immersion.
Regarding this AI music video production, Yel said she was impressed that working with AI allowed images she had imagined to be expanded in multiple directions rather than fixed as a single result, and she said many trials, errors and iterative edits were necessary from image generation to video completion, but despite being a first challenge, she achieved a satisfactory result.
She added that planning and editing stages still require the creator's deliberation and time, and that while AI does not replace every process, she thinks it can become a meaningful tool for visually realizing the mood and message of music in the future.
