Actor Choi Wooshik, Jang Hye-Jin, and Gong Seung-yeon appear on '6 O'Clock My Hometown.'
On the 4th, the KBS1 '6 O'Clock My Hometown' segment 'A noteworthy travel hometown tour' will feature reporter Heo Min, Head of Team, together with film 'Number One' leads Choi Wooshik, Jang Hye-Jin, and Gong Seung-yeon. The episode, with the concept 'Please take care of mom!,' has 'one-day employees' Choi Wooshik and Gong Seung-yeon each proposing travel destinations from the perspective of a son and daughter, respectively, and Jang Hye-Jin, who plays the mother in the film, will select the best employee through an honest evaluation.
On this trip to Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province, the travel package prepared by one-day employee Gong Seung-yeon was a traditional jang (fermented paste) making experience. At this place, where about 1,200 jangdokdaes (rows of earthenware jars) line up, a unique jang-making program operates every year around the first lunar month under the name 'Mother's home project.' Seung-yeon said it was chosen because it is "a space to share a mother's home cooking and time." The four stacked 42 meju blocks neatly into a jar that had been smoked and sterilized with charcoal and together poured in the salt water, participating in the entire process. However, at one point, Hye-Jin, who was in charge of the 'mother' role, added more laughter by asking, "Are you sure you came on a filial piety trip?"
Next, the four were introduced to Korea's local jang artisan 'Jjeomjang' and tried making it themselves. While mixing barley rice, meju powder, sea salt, and ground chili seeds until it became glutinous, Wooshik concentrated so intensely that he became what could be called 'Hulk hands,' turning the scene into a sea of laughter.
The place recommended by one-day employee Choi Wooshik was a duck meat specialty restaurant. Located in Toegyewon, this place's signature dishes are smoked duck carefully roasted over oak logs for three hours and spicy stir-fried duck. Wooshik said he chose it because "I wanted to serve food that would help my mother restore her health." He also took up an axe to chop wood himself, adding the dependable charm of a son and fully playing the role of mood maker.
After the meal, it was time to select the best employee. The 'Number One' employee chosen by Hye-Jin will be revealed on KBS1's '6 O'Clock My Hometown,' airing at 6 p.m. on the 4th.
