Koo Jun-yeob's wife, the late Seohee-won, was commemorated on the first anniversary of her death with an unveiling ceremony for a statue of the late Seohee-won in Taiwan, but questions arose because Seohee-won's children did not attend the event that day.
On the 3rd (local time), Taiwanese media ETtoday reported that Seohee-won's daughter and son did not appear at the statue unveiling for the late person held on the 2nd, and when controversy arose outside, Seohee-won's ex-husband Wang Xiaofei's current wife Ma Xiaomei expressed her position on the matter.
According to the report, Ma Xiaomei, regarding the children not participating in the event that day, said, "I don't know how the two families communicated," and added, "The children returned to Beijing the day after winter break began. I only help take care of the children's daily lives."
Ma Xiaomei, who is currently pregnant, has been continuously caring for Seohee-won's children and has mentioned several times about her bond with the children. She said she personally escorts the two children to and from school, does homework with them, and stays by the children's side by traveling and cooking together.
Meanwhile, Koo Jun-yeob and Seohee-won met in the 1990s and dated for about two years before breaking up. Later, Seohee-won married Chinese businessman Wang Xiaofei in 2011 and had one son and one daughter, but the marriage ended in 2021.
Koo Jun-yeob contacted Seohee-won and they became lovers again, and they drew attention when they married in 2022. However, on Feb. 2 of last year, Seohee-won went on a family trip to Japan and suddenly died from influenza accompanied by pneumonia, prompting sorrow.
On the 2nd, the first anniversary of the late person, Koo Jun-yeob and Seohee-won's bereaved family held an unveiling ceremony for a memorial sculpture in the Beilim master area of Jinbaoshan Memorial Park in Taiwan, a sculpture that Koo Jun-yeob personally participated in creating.
At the event were Koo Jun-yeob, Seohee-won's mother, younger sister Seohee-je, other bereaved family members, Koo Jun-yeob's acquaintance Kang Won-rae of Clon, Super Junior member Choi Si-won, and the late person's colleagues and acquaintances.
