Veteran actress Heo Jin confessed to a past health problem that once put her between life and death.
On the 3rd, TV CHOSUN's 'Healthy Home 2' featured Heo Jin, a 56-year veteran actress, who revealed that her condition had at one time rapidly worsened.
Born in 1949 and 76 this year, Heo Jin said, "I don't have any pain now. I'm getting around healthily," but she began, "I used to be really deteriorated."
She said, "I originally weighed about 43kg, but after I passed my 50s I suddenly gained 10kg. After that I was very thirsty, I had no strength in my body at all, and I felt like I was going to collapse," and recalled, "When I went to the hospital they told me to be admitted immediately."
She continued, "The doctor showed other patients' cases and said, 'This person is exactly like you but died the next day,'" and confessed, "Hearing that really frightened me. Thanks to the doctors and pharmacists, I lived."
The test results were more serious than expected. Heo Jin said, "I thought I didn't have diabetes, but my blood sugar was high. I was under a lot of stress from drama filming, I couldn't eat properly, and I had given up eating on schedule," and revealed, "I was eventually diagnosed with diabetes and hyperlipidemia."
On top of that, she had thyroid problems. She explained, "At a health check in my 60s they found as many as four thyroid nodules and said I also had chronic thyroiditis," and added, "I would fall sick at the slightest thing, and if I caught a cold it lasted more than 10 days."
After consistent medication and management, Heo Jin said she recovered her health and added, "I am now truly grateful and doing well."
Meanwhile, Heo Jin debuted in 1971 as an MBC open recruitment talent, rose rapidly to leading roles immediately after her debut, swept awards from rookie to best acting awards, and enjoyed her peak period. She has continued active work, appearing recently in the drama 'First Lady' and the film 'About My Daughter'.<
