TWICE unit MISAMO officially released their first Japanese full-length album PLAY today (the 4th).
Mina, Sana and Momo-formed TWICE unit MISAMO released their first Japanese full album PLAY at 12 a.m. on Feb. 4. PLAY, MISAMO's first full-length album, follows their 2023 July debut album Masterpiece and their 2024 Nov. mini album HAUTE COUTURE as the culminating installment of a three-part series, expressing an antique and sophisticated atmosphere throughout the new record with the main themes of "art" and "theater."
Led by the title track "Confetti," the album richly includes 12 tracks in total: "Hmm," "Not a Goodbye," "Deep Eden," "Red Diamond," "Catch My Eye," Momo's "Kitty," Sana's "Ma Cherry," Mina's "Turning Tables," the mini-2 title track "Identity," the debut song "Do not touch," and "Message."
"Confetti" is an uptempo song based on big band and jazz sounds that delivers the message "life is like an unscripted improvisational play." Even at the end of a day that does not go as planned, its encouraging lyrics that cheer oneself on combined with a lively groove give listeners a pleasant energy. The music video, pre-released with the single on Jan. 16, drew fans' approval with its lavish direction like watching a musical and the three members' lovely charms.
Since their official unit debut in July 2023, MISAMO, enjoying overwhelming popularity, has recently added further achievements from the local record association. According to an announcement on the Japan Record Association's official website on the 30th, MISAMO's mini-2 track "NEW LOOK" surpassed 100 million cumulative streams as of Dec. 2025 and received the Japan Record Association's streaming platinum certification. The track is a cover that reinterprets Amuro Namie's signature song "NEW LOOK" in MISAMO's style and received broad acclaim from local listeners.
Meanwhile, TWICE is successfully staging the sixth world tour < THIS IS FOR > as part of which they are performing 35 shows across 20 North American markets and meeting global audiences. On Apr. 25, 26 and 28, they will become the first overseas artist to perform at Tokyo National Stadium. With about 80,000 attendees per show and a total of three shows drawing roughly 240,000 people, the large-scale solo concerts are expected to leave a clear mark on the concert industry.
