Singer and actor Park Yuchun shared news that he attended a traditional Japanese event.
On the 3rd, Park Yuchun posted several photos on his social media with the caption, "This year I was also able to participate in Takao-san Yakuoin's "senan (the person who shares that year's luck)" event."
In the released photos, Park Yuchun is wearing traditional Japanese clothing and attending an event held at a temple. He drew attention as he stood side by side with local officials to take commemorative photos or remained in place with a serious expression, appearing to concentrate on the ritual.
He added, "It was an honor to meet Kanju Sato Hidehito in person. I hope everyone has a year full of good luck," expressing his thoughts.
Park Yuchun debuted in 2003 with the group TVXQ! and gained great popularity across Asia, later expanding his activities as a member of JYJ. However, after a personal life controversy in 2016, he was prosecuted in 2019 on methamphetamine use charges and was sentenced to 10 months in prison with a two-year suspended sentence, causing social repercussions.
At the time he said at a press conference, "If I used drugs, I will retire from the entertainment industry," but he later reversed that and resumed activities mainly overseas excluding Korea. Recently, he has continued local activities such as fan meetings and performances in Japan.
While domestic activities are effectively suspended, news of his attendance at a Japanese temple event has been reported, and public opinion about his actions remains divided.
