ILLIT was once again chosen as the vocalist for the theme song of a Japanese TV anime.
On the 3rd, according to HYBE music group label Belift Lab Inc., ILLIT (Yoonah, Minju, Moka, Wonhee, Iroha) will sing the opening theme song "Bubee" for the TV anime "Mahou no shimai Rurutoriri," scheduled to air in April.
"Bubee" is a dance-pop song that combines J-pop with Shibuya-kei subculture sensibilities. ILLIT said, "Recording 'Bubee' made us feel like we were immersed in the world of the anime. Please listen to the cute lyrics and bouncy melody."
"Mahou no shimai Rurutoriri" tells the story of sisters who gain magical powers, transform into the adult figures they admired, and, not knowing each other's identities, carry out idol activities. As a new work from Studio Pierrot, which has produced the "magical girl" series since 1983, it is drawing great expectations from anime fans. Attention is also focused on the special synergy that ILLIT, which has targeted the tastes of the 10-20s generation with a magical girl concept, will create with this series.
ILLIT has been drawing attention in the OST field with its distinctive refreshing vocal tone and trendy appeal. Recently they released the opening song "Sunday Morning" for season 2 of the Japanese TV anime "Princess, it's time for 'torture'" and the ending song "Finding Secrets" for the domestically broadcast anime "Pokémon: Megavoltage," receiving good responses in succession.
In particular, "Almond Chocolate," which ILLIT released last February as the theme song for the film "I don't like you just by your face," swept the Japanese music charts and achieved the feat of winning the "Excellent Work Award" at the 67th "Kagayaku! Japan Record Awards."
Meanwhile, ILLIT will intensify its global activities by holding its first tour in seven domestic and international cities, "ILLIT LIVE 'PRESS START♥'." They will open the concerts over two days on Mar. 14-15 at the Ticketlink Live Arena (formerly the handball gymnasium) in Seoul. They will then proceed to Aichi on June 13-14, Osaka on June 20-21, Fukuoka on June 29-30, Hyogo on July 18-19, Tokyo on July 23 and July 25-26, and will conclude with a finale in Hong Kong on Aug. 22.
