GREE will appear on MBC's Radio Star to reveal for the first time behind-the-scenes details of his 18 months of military service in the Marine Corps. After being discharged and returning to civilian life, GREE participates in the recording, makes a formal discharge report in the studio, and moves everyone to tears by performing a deep bow to his father, MC Kim Gu Ra.
Radio Star, airing Wednesday night on the 4th (planned by Chey Yoon-chung / directed by Yoon Hye-jin, Hwang Yoon-sang, Byun Da-hee), is staged as a "SHOW! walk the flower road~" special featuring Kim Won-jun, Cho Hye-lyeon, Hanhae and GREE. The four, each meeting another turning point in their lives, honestly unpack past times and present changes with candid talk.
The moment GREE appears in the studio he immediately commands the atmosphere by demonstrating a Marine Corps-style discharge report. After entering, he arouses curiosity by not sitting in a chair, then performs the Marine Corps-style discharge report and offers a deep bow to his father Kim Gu Ra, earning cheers from everyone. Cho Hye-lyeon, watching beside him, eventually bursts into tears, and the scene is filled with an atmosphere of emotion.
GREE details Marine Corps life, including IBS (inflatable boat small) training in which he carried a boat over his head in the midsummer sea, extreme physical training and mental education. Having endured military life with the will to avoid ridicule, he says he became a pride of the Marines, shows special pride in the red badge, and openly recounts moments of military life that honed him.
He also confesses that his values completely changed during his military service, honestly revealing the "moment he regretted volunteering for the Marines" that he could not avoid and the reasons he nonetheless endured until the end. He surprises the MCs with unexpected answers, including an episode about Michelin food he found in the military that adds laughter.
Also, the long-awaited "bun-eo-ppang" father-son talk between Kim Gu Ra and GREE is a highlight. GREE exposes, "There is someone my dad can't move and constantly nags," embarrassing Kim Gu Ra, who then candidly responds, showing the long-missed, fantastic chemistry of the bun-eo-ppang father and son.
You can see the story of GREE, who returned from the Marine Corps equipped with both a hardened presence and entertainment skills, on Radio Star, which airs Wednesday night at 10:30 p.m. on the 4th.
