On the 3rd, at a café in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, an interview with lead actor Choi Wooshik for the film 'Number One' (director Kim Tae-yong, provided by BY4M Studio·Penter Invest, distributed by BY4M Studio, produced by Semicolon Studio·Studio DMM, co-produced by BY4M Studio·IPD Company) was held.
'Number One' is a film about Ha-min (Choi Wooshik), who one day begins to see numbers that decrease by one each time he eats his mother's food, and learns that when the number reaches zero his mother Eun-sil (Jang Hye-Jin) will die, so he tries to protect his mother.
He, who also shows a romance with Gong Seung-yeon in the film, responded to the question 'Are you also a caring partner in real life?' with a joking, "First of all, I am really caring in real life."
He went on to praise their chemistry, saying, "We filmed it enjoyably and well. Also, her personality is very bright. At that time Seung-yeon said that the director and I were already close, and that she and my mother were also close. She must have been nervous and trembling because she had to come in as a new person, but she's such a good actor that she seemed to blend in well from the start. Also, when I couldn't speak to the director, Seung-yeon spoke up beside me and helped a lot when we were acting, which was great."
We were also able to hear Choi Wooshik's real thoughts on "family" and "marriage." He confessed, "My friends around me have all gotten married, and they all have children. Every time I see that, I think, 'I probably would have been married by now if things were different.' But because of work, there are many experiences I haven't had besides marriage. For now, it seems open. I'm not particularly anti-marriage. I don't think I've really considered marriage yet. I'm not sure up to that point. Still, I'm human. My mind could change suddenly. If that situation comes, I think I'll act accordingly."
He reflected, "But looking back now, it seems there really aren't many male actors of my age who are married. I think there are reasons for that. I thought about it too — why don't I really think about getting married? When you're working, you don't have time. After work ends, you try to quickly return things to normal and rest. When you rest you immediately start work again. I think there are many times when you miss out on things that are obvious. People say 'there's no need to worry about celebrities.' That's true to an extent, but there are many times when you can't even do what's obvious. It feels like I miss a lot of things,'" adding, "I think I'll still be like, 'Marriage. I should, but when is the right time?' However, I think marriage is something I absolutely should do."
Meanwhile, 'Number One' opens in theaters nationwide on the 11th.
