Actress Jessie Cave, who became known for playing Lavender Brown in the Harry Potter film series, opened up about her feelings after experiencing a miscarriage.
Jessie Cave recently revealed on the podcast Before We Break Up Again, which she co-hosts with her partner, comedian Alfie Brown, that she had a miscarriage after her fifth pregnancy. She said she learned she was pregnant around Christmas, but confessed that unlike previous pregnancies, anxiety outweighed joy.
Jessie Cave said, "When I found out I was pregnant I felt like something was wrong," and that she spent weeks agonizing over whether to continue or terminate the pregnancy. In fact, she had even made an appointment for an abortion, but during the examination the fetus's heartbeat was not detected and she was diagnosed with a miscarriage.
She said, "It wasn't a matter of choice; when I was told there was no longer an option, I felt deep sadness," but added, "On the other hand, there was also a sense of relief that the decision had been made," conveying complex emotions. She continued, "Deep down there was great sorrow, but at the same time there was also a feeling that the situation had been resolved."
Jessie Cave and Alfie Brown are currently parents of four children. She said this pregnancy became a more difficult dilemma because it overlapped with her career, livelihood and personal plans. She particularly admitted that the burden of her recently started activities and future schedule also acted as psychological pressure.
Meanwhile, Jessie Cave said, "Losing a child is not easy for anyone," and added, "For parents who are already raising children, the sense of loss is even greater," offering a message of empathy to those who have suffered similar pain.
