Actor Kim Bo-kyung died five years ago.
Kim Bo-kyung died on Feb. 2, 2021, after an 11-year battle with cancer. She was 44. The sad news was belatedly announced on the 5th of the same month after the funeral, adding to the sorrow.
A graduate of Seoul Institute of the Arts' theater department, the late actor entered the entertainment industry as an advertising model after graduation, and in 2001 she made her full-fledged screen debut through the film "Friend." After that she appeared in the films "Gitan," "Young Bride," and the dramas "Invitation," "White Tower," and "School 4," among many other works, steadily building her filmography.
In particular, in "Friend" she left a strong impression as Jinsook, the lead vocalist of Rainbow, and in "White Tower" she played Kang Hee-jae, the mental companion of Jang Joon-hyuk (Kim Myung-min), leaving a deep acting impression in viewers' memories.
While continuing her vigorous activities, Kim Bo-kyung was diagnosed with liver cancer in 2010. Even as her health rapidly deteriorated, she did not give up acting, and she fulfilled her responsibilities as an actor by appearing as late as the 2013 drama "I Think I Loved".
The late actor's remains were interred at Busan Memorial Park. Kim Bo-kyung's name, who showed sincere acting across screen and television, is still quietly recalled along with scenes from her works on the fifth anniversary.
