The original soundtrack "Golden" from the Netflix animated film 'K-pop Demon Hunters' has made new history once again.
"Golden" was announced as the winner in the Best Song Written For Visual Media category at the 68th Grammy Awards Premiere Ceremony held in Los Angeles on the 1st (local time). That category is awarded to the songwriter of a song created for visual media, and it is significant because it recognizes both artistic merit and musical quality.
Coinciding with the film's global success, "Golden" became the first K-pop song to simultaneously top the U.S. Billboard main singles chart Hot 100 and the U.K. Official Singles Chart top 100, proving its worldwide popularity.
With this award, song contributors Jae (EJAE), Teddy, 24, and Idio (Iyoo, Kwak Jung-gyu, Nam Hee-dong) earned the title of Grammy winners. Although there have been cases of Korean-origin sound engineers or overseas performers winning awards, it is particularly noteworthy that this is the first time K-pop songwriters and producers have won a Grammy.
Producer 24 said in his acceptance remarks, "Although he could not be here with me, I dedicate this honor to Teddy hyung, the greatest teacher and closest friend who participated in this entire process and is the pioneer of K-pop."
